Fall weddings have a certain ambiance and magic of their own. The air is crisp, the colors are rich with warm hues, and there’s a certain cozy elegance that sets the tone. This couldn’t have been more true for the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Lewis as they envisioned an intimate and sophisticated wedding with a jazz club vibe at the downtown Hotel Washington.
Catherine and Allison previously worked in the event planning world together maintaining a friendship over the years, so we were overjoyed when she reached out to Boizelle Affaires to plan her big day! Allison and Forrest are fun, classy, and full of passion, so we expected nothing less when we pulled together a dream team of vendors for their wedding.
The Hotel Washington was the perfect setting for Allison and Forrest’s October wedding. The weekend began Saturday morning, where their families and closest friends witnessed their sacramental ceremony at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in the Shaw neighborhood. Afterwards they gathered for an intimate reception to celebrate.
On Sunday, the couple got ready separately with family and friends trickling in to share memories and give well wishes. Allison and Forrest shared a first look in the same room he had proposed in months prior, at the top of Hotel Washington. They then exchanged private vows, an intimate moment that was full of emotion.
Before the ceremony began, the couple took stunning portraits throughout the hotel lobby, followed by their family and friends joining in to capture timeless photos, which will be cherished for years to come.
Their ceremony was equally charming, classic and not lacking in detail. The processional music was a collection of their favorite praise and worship hymns, timed perfectly for each entrance and played live on the piano. The wooden cross that was the backdrop for their ceremony was handmade by the groom’s parents. Guests sat facing each other so everyone could partake in the ceremony and upon its completion, guests threw rose petals as the newlyweds processed down the aisle filled with florals and glowing candlelight.
Following the ceremony, guests made their way up to the top floor where they enjoyed delectable food, cocktails with monogrammed ice cubes, and handwritten notes from the newlyweds surrounded by elegance and live jazz music during cocktail hour.
The vibes continued into the reception space with moody glam décor, dim lighting, and candlelit tables. Add a bit of fun and flair with a personalized ice luge and a selection of the guest’s favorite songs being played by live dueling pianos. Guests enjoyed dinner and drinks in a space filled with a glowing candlelit tablescape that reflected the mood.
As the evening progressed, heartfelt toasts were shared and guests made their way to the dance floor. A little swing, a little soul, and a lot of elegance was present, while a dress change took place with handsewn details into the bride’s mother’s altered wedding dress. Cake cutting followed by midnight snacks and the dance floor filled with music, the newlyweds danced the night away!
Allison and Forrest’s intimate wedding at Hotel Washington was a truly unique and unforgettable occasion. From the emotional ceremony to the lively reception, every moment was infused with sophistication and warmth.
