Timeless D.C. Wedding

Dana and David

From the start I knew this classic wedding would be one for the books.

The lovely couple
Through every interaction, Dana and David were an absolute honor and joy to work with. From the preparation to the execution and all of the details in between, this couple was extremely gracious, hospitable, and intentional. Dana and David’s genuine faith was evident throughout our conversations and on their wedding day. One moment in particular struck me: because the bride and groom were getting ready at their reception venue, the Capitol Hill Club, I was able to set place cards in the morning. As I was setting these in preparation for their formal dinner reception that evening, I glanced over and saw David and his groomsmen gathered in prayer and reading scripture together. Knowing David, I wasn’t surprised in the least. It was a touching moment to witness and there is nothing more beautiful than a groom preparing his heart before meeting his bride at the altar.

The details
I appreciated the sophisticated and timeless details of this day, a clear reflection of the bride. Dana and David were married at St. Aloysius church on Gonzaga’s campus in downtown DC – an all boy’s Jesuit high school David attended growing up. It was a special moment to witness the exchange of vows take place in a church that was already filled with many treasured memories. They were hospitable to friends and family by providing transportation to the ceremony and reception. Dana and David kicked off their wedding weekend with welcome drinks at Anchovy Social following their rehearsal dinner at the Gatsby.

From the wedding planner’s side
This was not only the first wedding of the year, but the first wedding back from maternity leave. Dana and David were so gracious to my team and me while I was away, and even welcomed my son at our final walkthrough at their venues when he was just seven weeks old! I am so grateful for their trust and understanding as I navigated the first few weeks of motherhood while preparing for their big day! I could not have imagined a more lovely wedding to come back from maternity leave to. Dana and David’s wedding will always hold a special place in my heart for this reason.

Let the dance party begin!
Dana and David had one of the most unique dance party transitions we’ve seen to date! Following dinner, toasts, and cake cutting, David joked the wedding was now coming to a close. At that moment some of the band members started playing as they walked from the first floor up the stairs and through the reception tables in the ballroom. David, Dana, and the guests followed suit and joined the band members as they marched to the third floor to start the party. No dance party would be complete though without some passed espresso martinis and snacks to round out the night. It is safe to say that it was a night of dancing and delight we will never forget!

Congratulations Dana and David! It is couples like you that make us so thankful for the work we are privileged to do.
