An Italian Affaire

Elizabeth & Wendell

Elizabeth and Wendell’s destination wedding was everything you would imagine a wedding in Italy to be. The couple exchanged vows in the idyllic Italian seaside town of Ladispoli on a lovely afternoon in May.

Elizabeth and Wendell began their love story when they met online in 2019. Their love continued to bloom and in the winter of 2020 Wendell got down on one knee in an iconic setting during a Christmas tour at the White House.

After their proposal, the couple reached out to us and we began planning the wedding of their dreams with only one destination in mind – a wedding affaire in Italy!

Elizabeth studied abroad in Italy during college and naturally fell in love with everything about it. Elizabeth’s love for the country started with the food and wine, but grew to everything about the culture, including its rich history and art. Little did she know at the time that Italy would not only be the destination of her studies abroad, but also her wedding in years to come.

Conveniently located just miles away from the Fiumicino Rome Airport, we were pleased to propose La Posta Vecchia, a five-star boutique hotel, as the picture perfect backdrop for their wedding. With the venue and date selected, we proceeded to secure their remaining vendors complete with an energetic Italian trio for entertainment.

Situated on the outskirts of Rome, the couple, wedding party, immediate family and close friends gathered at the historic Roman villa turned boutique hotel for an intimate wedding ceremony and reception.

Elizabeth, along with her bridesmaids and mother, got ready in the regal Medici Master Suite. Elizabeth wore a lovely Suzanna Neville London dress with a Peter Langner veil and Loeffler Randall. Elizabeth and her bridesmaids, who were adorned in champagne dresses, carried white blooms to complete the classic look.

Elizabeth and Wendell’s ceremony took place in thea garden outside the villa overlooking the sea.

After the bride and groom were announced husband and wife they walked down the floral marked aisle as petals were tossed in the air. Guests were greeted with passed prosecco as they were invited to the garden patio for an aperitif. Of course this included the classic Italian aperol spritz as a signature cocktail.

Wendell and Elizabeth share an appreciation for the Impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh and decided to use a Van Gogh art book gifted by Elizabeth’s mother as their guest book.

After enjoying conversation and sipping on their favorite cocktails, family and friends sat around a kings table to enjoy delicious Italian cuisine prepared by Chef Antonio Magliulo and toast to the bride and groom.

As the sun set on their wedding day, the party continued under dazzling string lights – a perfect ending to a new beginning as husband and wife.
